We are looking for a mason who views their work as a critical component of home safety. This role involves complex and detailed masonry work, often performed at height, ensuring that every crown, flashing, and firebox is built to code, structurally sound, and aesthetically pleasing. You will work closely with our CSIA Certified Chimney Professionals (CCPs) to deliver complete, long-lasting chimney solutions.

Location: Hartselle, AL (Serving North Alabama)

Key Responsibilities

The Skilled Mason will be responsible for executing all aspects of chimney and fireplace masonry work:

  • Masonry Repairs & Restoration: Execute partial and full chimney rebuilds, tuckpointing, repointing, brick and block replacement, and structural repairs with precision and quality.

  • Crown & Waterproofing: Expertly construct and repair poured and pre-cast concrete crowns, ensuring proper slope, drip edges, and integration with the flue system to prevent water penetration.

  • Firebox & Hearth Work: Repair and rebuild fireboxes, smoke chambers, and hearths using appropriate refractory materials to maximize safety and efficiency.

  • Chimney Accessories: Integrate metal chimney components (e.g., flashings, custom caps, dampers) seamlessly into the masonry structure.

  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to all OSHA safety regulations, company protocols, and local building codes (NFPA 211), especially when operating scaffolding and working at heights (ladders and roofs).

  • Material Management: Calculate material needs accurately, manage the worksite efficiently, and maintain masonry tools and equipment.

Requirements & Qualifications

Must-Haves

  • Experience: Minimum of one(1) years of hands-on experience in residential and commercial masonry, with a strong emphasis on chimney or historical restoration work.

  • Technical Skill: Demonstrated mastery of various masonry techniques, including bricklaying, stone setting, mixing mortar, and reading blueprints/specifications.

  • Physical Capability: Capable of safely lifting 75+ lbs, enduring sustained physical labor outdoors, and possessing comfort and capability for safe work at significant heights (scaffolding, ladders, and various roof types).

  • Tools: Must possess the basic set of hand tools necessary for the trade.

  • Safety Alignment: Unwavering commitment to the highest safety standards and the mission: Your family's safety is our top priority.

  • Licensing: Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

Highly Valued

  • Specialized training or certification in historical masonry preservation or chimney restoration.

  • Experience operating lifting equipment (e.g., boom lifts, personnel lifts).

  • Knowledge of NFPA 211 codes as they relate to structural chimney components.
